The Confederacy of Independent Systems or the CIS or commonly known as the Separatists and the Separatist Alliance, or simply known as the Confederacy or Confederation and sometimes known as the Separatist-Confederacy, the Confederacy Alliance, and the Separatist Foundation is a group fighting against the evil Galactic Republic. The Separatists moved away from the Republic since they were too corrupt and wanted peace. The members of systems formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The heroic General Grievous was their true heroic leader while the Separatist Council was the backup for the CIS. However, during 19 BBY, Darth Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker killed all of the Separatist Leaders at the behest of Darth Sidious and betrayed the evil Jedi.
The Armed Forces
Confederate Army

The Confederacy had a massive Droid Army made by the Techno Union and the Trade Federation. The Confederacy later on got more people to build different Droids classes so they can win the war, and defeat the Republic.

The Confederacy of Independent Systems Navy contained several warships created to help transport Battle Droids across the galaxy when they were gathering planets or in Dooku's case, invading the planet's populations.
Goals
The public goals of the heroic Confederacy and thereby the Confederacy military were two-fold and known as Separatist New Order or Separatist cause. The first of its goals were to defend the planets that declared an independent state from the Republic and to have a peaceful and corporate-friendly galaxy as represented by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Second, the Confederacy sought to surround and therefore overwhelm the Core Worlds and deprive it of vital trade from the rest of the galaxy for the heroic CIS. Moreover, the leaders of the Confederacy possessed a belief that the assurance of proper negotiations were capable through the means of successfully blockading a planet of interest, in which would allow the government to conduct the desired negotiations of the government's terms of independence with the Republic from a position of strength. This was under the command of the heroic Kaleesh cyborg General Grievous, who commanded the entire Confederacy military as this was one of Grievous's heroic goals as well, besides killing the Jedi for their heinous acts against his Kaleesh people for no reason.
However, not all Separatists are heroes as some of them are villains that do the same stuff as the evil Jedi Order & Galactic Republic they hate. These "Separatists" such as Lok Durd, Nuvo Vindi, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Nute Gunray & Wat Tambor do not care about the heroic cause of the Separatists. Instead, they only cared about their own evil goals such as genocides of innocents, enslavement & greed. This does not however prove the Separatist Alliance is "evil" as that is just like saying General Grievous, a hero is a "villain" which is false info. Those "Separatists" never cared about the heroic cause and used the Separatist Droid Army to further their evil goals which falls into Evil vs Evil.
However, when heroic Separatists such as Canon Grievous, Admiral Trench, Whorm Loathsom, Osi Sobeck, Riff Tamson, Mina Bonteri & others are fighting against the evil Jedi because they're fighting for the heroic Separatist cause. However, those heroes mentioned above are still portrayed as "villains" to make the villains (Jedi & Galactic Republic) look like "heroes" when they're clearly not as they commit genocides on innocents and abduct children.
History
Origins

Following the Invasion of Naboo, secession spread through out the evil Republic's failing government to it's many worlds due to it's increasing corruption and it's mindless beuracracy of the Senate. Commerce guilds and trading corporations became dissillusioned when the Republic started passed laws on taxation on all trade routes. All these worlds, guild and corporations then came together under former evil Jedi Master Dooku was able to sway thousands of systems to his Separatist movement to prepare for a fight against the Republic. These elements started to band together with Dooku at it's head. They then started to call themselves the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It's membership included the heads of the Trade Federation, the Techno Union, the Corporate Alliance, the Commerce Guild and the InterGalactic Banking Clan. The Republic refused to acknowledge the CIS as a formal government, to make sure that they were not legitimized calling them "insurgents" or "rebels".

Geonosis
The Heroes of the Clone Wars (Minus Dooku and Ventress).
The Confederacy then rallied it's armed forces to their cause, to eventually chat with the Republic. The Trade Federation, despite the Republic ordering them to downsize it's droid army after the Battle of Naboo, built up their army in secret for the CIS armory with help from other factories and factions, such as the Techno Union. Worlds such as Hypori and Geonosis had their foundries build billions of battle droids ready to fight for the Confederacy while Dooku continued to rally more Star systems to the Separatist cause including the heroic Kaleesh General Grievous who was ready to kill the villainous Jedi for their evil actions against him and his people.
However the Republic found out about what the Confederacy was planning when Obi-Wan Kenobi spied on them which caused the sinister Kenobi to be captured starting the first battle of the Clone Wars.
For over 3 years, the Confederacy and the Republic would fight the Clone Wars, while many died on both sides. Unbeknown to both sides until too late, the War was merely a plan set by Darth Sidious to bring about Sith domination of the Galaxy.

Shortly the CIS retreat and vacated its first capital world of Geonosis, the Separatists began to seize control of the major hyperspace lanes, separating the Republic from its army. Head of State Count Dooku, greedy Viceory Nute Gunray, vile Foreman Wat Tambor & heroic Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies General Grievous were seen onboard a Munificent-class star frigate bridge during the beginning of the war with several Vulture Droids flying by.

Later, the evil Galactic Republic aimed to create a base to combat the Confederacy in the Outer Rim Territories. At Rugosa, Yoda went to negotiate with King Katuunko, but Asajj Ventress and her Battle droids intervened. Ultimately, the mission proved successful as the spirited fighting of the Jedi impressed Katuunko, who agreed to ally with them. Meanwhile, the heroic CIS had to retreat.
The Malevolence

Half way during the war, the Confederacy was doing very well, capturing many planets. However the Confederacy's fortune turned and began to suffer numerous defeats which led to the Outer Rim sieges. The Confederacy was led by Dooku and heroic Gen. Grievous. Also the Confederacy attempted to use super weapons such as the heroic Malevolence's ion weapons but the villainous Republic destroyed it.
Grievous would lead the Droid Army into victory in many battles against the evil Republic. One such victory was when he overwhelmed a Republic battle group at Faleen, and was easily able to capture the planet.

Later, Separatist droid forces attempted to capture Rishi Station so that a Separatist fleet could attack the sinister Republic cloning factories on Kamino but were repelled by Clone troopers, who managed to warn the evil Republic. As a result, the Separatists were forced to withdraw their fleet from the orbit of Rishi moon. Republic forces under General Skywalker and Admiral Yularen later destroyed a heroic Separatist fleet commanded by Grievous during the Battle of Bothawui. Grievous escaped on his personal starfighter Soulless One. Skywalker and R2-D2 gave chase but their Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor was damaged in a meteor storm.
Skytop Station

Skytop Station, a repurposed Trade Federation core ship, served as a listening post for the heroic Confederacy. It was built by the Hyper-Communications Cartel. It had been used to detect republic transmissions, and was used to figure out that the republic planed to make a treaty with the Toydarians on Rugosa. In response Ventress was sent to interfere. Sometime after the Bothawui battle, the republic droid R2-D2 was captured by heroic General Grievous, who hoped to dissect the astromech in order to extract Republic secrets that were embedded within its memory core to help their heroic CIS. Republic forces infiltrated the station in order to rescue the droid. Their mission turned out successful, they proceeded to destroy the station, but 2008 Grievous hero was able to escape in the Soulless One.

Later, General Grievous was ambushed by sinister Jedi and Republic forces led by General Kit Fisto. Grievous survived the attack and Fisto was forced to flee, after Nahdar Vebb was killed by Grievous. The ambush was a test engineered by Dooku to test Grievous' "worthiness" to lead the Battle Droid Army which made Grievous hate the sinister Count.
Ryloth

After the annihilation of the Republic garrison there, Ryloth was enslaved and blockaded by the Separatist Droid Army and the Techno Union Droid Army. The army was led by Emir Wat Tambor who oversaw the enslavement from the city of Lessu . During the invasion much of Ryloth was imprisoned by the droid army by order of the Emir. Throughout the enslavement, the Confederacy forces were repeatedly attacked by a group of Twi'lek freedom fighters led by Cham Syndulla, that wanted the Republic to remain with them. However, the a secret slave trade was still in affect as the Jedi allowed this as this "wasn't their problem" proving they're not heroes. Eventually the evil Republic Army assembled a force to "liberate" the planet, a goal they accomplished after heavy fighting. However, they were unable to prevent TA-175's escape with many of the valuables Wat had looted from the natives.
Feluica
The Confederacy led by Grievous Hero invaded Feluica and defeated the evil Jedi, causing them to pull back.
Second Battle of Geonosis
The Confederacy was building a secret droid factory on Geonosis. To keep it hidden, Grievous Hero led diversions to protect the heroic Poggle the Lesser. Despite Grievous's heroic efforts, the Republic was still able to invade Geonosis which resulted in more innocent Geonoisans deaths, the destruction of the new super tanks, the death of Poggle's heroic T-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid TX-21 and the capture of Poggle.
Capture of Eeth Koth

After the Second Battle of Geonosis, malicious Jedi Master Eeth Koth was captured by the heroic Supreme Martial Commander Separatist General Grievous during a battle deep in the Outer Rim Territories.The Jedi on Coruscant receive a holo-transmission from Grievous, in which the general shows his victory over the Jedi by having one of his MagnaGuards torture Koth. Grievous states that he does not care about the Jedi's politics, nor their Republic, concluding that he lives only to see them all die. Unbeknown to the Jedi, the hero Grievous was simply using Koth as bait in a trap meant to ensnare his two most hated foes: Generals Kenobi and Skywalker.

After the Capture of Eeth Koth. the Jedi decided to recue their fiendish member Eeth Koth. However, the heroic General Grievous already had a trap of BX-series droid commandos led by TV-94 and he intended to board Obi-Wan's evil light cruiser Surrogator. After the battle began, Grievous Hero boarded the evil Surrogator and fought the malicious Jedi Master while Anakin Skywalker and Adi Gallia boarded Grievous's heroic Recusant to save the villainous Jedi Council member.
Other battles
The Confederacy continued to win countless battles against the evil republic.
Peace treaty
Padmé Amidala and Ahsoka Tano went to Raxus Secundus to find peace with the CIS senate. Heroic Grievous dispatched demolition droids to Coruscant to knock out the power to the Galactic Senate, which was successful. Soon, Count Dooku ordered the death of Mina Bonteri, Amidala's helper, so the treaty offer failed.
Trivia
- Similar to the heroes that came after them, Alliance to Restore the Republic, the Separatists were called "insurgents" or "rebels" by the evil Galactic Republic & Jedi Order refusing to acknowledge the CIS as a formal government which was the same case with Rebel Alliance as the Galactic Empire didn't want to acknowledge them as an government.
